FAQs

EV charging questions

What size EV charger can I have?

It depends on your available spare capacity, not just what you would like. Domestic single-phase installations are usually 7.4kW; premises with three-phase can take 11kW or 22kW units; depot and forecourt sites can support rapid DC chargers. We survey the incoming supply and existing load before recommending a size.

What if there isn't enough spare capacity?

There are usually three options: fit load management so the charger throttles when the building demand peaks, apply to the DNO for a supply upgrade, or install more, lower-powered points that charge over a longer window. We will set out the cost of each rather than defaulting to the most expensive.

How long does installation take?

A straightforward domestic charger is typically half a day. Workplace installations with multiple bays, trenching or new sub-mains run from a couple of days to a phased programme, which we confirm at quotation stage.

Do you install any brand of charger?

We install the mainstream manufacturers and are happy to fit a unit you have already chosen. If you have no preference, we will recommend units we know are reliable in the field and easy to support.
